Little Treasures

Speaking of changes, it's funny how many of them snuck up on me. My sleeping, eating, and general life habits have changed dramatically since having a baby. Still there are a few things that changed that I didn't notice until I took a second glance. Some (if not most) of them are pretty funny. Should I share? Why not? We all need a good laugh.

As I climbed into bed last night I had another "this is my life" moment. Exhausted (I usually am) I flung back the covers and found that my bed had become a virtual baby treasure chest. The following items were found:

3 burp cloths
2 blankets (not belonging to me or the hubs)
3 toys (1 teething ring, 1 rattle, and 1 unidentified "plastic thing that makes noise")
1 story book
3 pacifiers
3 articles of Roo's clothing

This of course didn't faze me at all (remember, I was exhausted). I lay down and got comfortable amongst the junk. It was only when my toes curled around a foreign object (pacifier #3)* that I decided to take a closer look at my surroundings and take inventory.
Although I removed the stockpile from our bed, I know it will only return in a few days to be cleaned up again. Our life is not very compartmentalized right now. When the baby wants to play, we play. When she wants to cuddle, we cuddle. When she's tired, she sleeps. We do all of these things wherever feels right. While we're trying to keep Roo sleeping in her crib most of the time, these activities happen in our bed a lot. I hope this doesn't make us sound like slobs. Considering the fact that we have a new baby, I'm actually pretty proud of how tidy we are able to keep the house. That doesn't mean it's spotless, in fact it's far from it. Even though I like a clean house, I'll allow the occasional collection of baby items in my bed if it means that we have been living and loving and enjoying life.

*Don't worry, the pacifier has been sterilized.
p.s. Have you read this blog? This post made me feel better. I'm not alone!
