downs:
- that time i smashed my toe on a shopping cart in target. just picture a hobbling, pregnant woman bent over her cart in pain, trying not to groan too loudly or curse. veeery attractive.
- trying to take Roo to restaurants. i'm waiting for the day that she realizes that booths are not for jumping and food is not for throwing, and perhaps that all-too-important "inside voice" concept. ("MOMMY WHO'S THAT? WHAT IS SHE EATING? THAT'S YUCKY MOMMY! I DON'T WANT A YUCKY HAMGRUBER MOMMY! I'M HURNEY (hungry) MOMMY! I WANT FOOD MOMMY! MOMMY WHAT'S THIS?" *dumps ketchup/vinegar/salt all over the table, throws fork over her shoulder, eats a sugar packet* "I WENT POOPOO IN THE POTTY MOMMY! IT WAS SO SO BIG MOMMY!")
- back/hip pain. apparently i've hit that part of pregnancy where you're just never comfortable.
- terrible twos. i can't even talk about it. it's been bad, guys
- that time i took Roo to feed the ducks and an enormous goose showed up and started chasing us around hissing. pretty sure it had shark teeth and red, beady eyes. did i have nightmares about it? ...maybe
ups:
- my 20 week ultrasound. everything looks great and baby "patty" is healthy and right on track. yay!
- clouds! i know it sounds dumb but we are roasting alive over here and having a few overcast days has been great. i've always been happy in the heat (i'd still rather be too hot than too cold) but being pregnant in the summer is rough. i'm already itching for fall
- more trips up the canyon
- that time Ruby said "you a good mommy"
- the kid in the grocery store who was WORKIN IT along to the song playing over the speakers. We're talking serious moves here. Jersey shore fist pumps, pelvic thrusts, booty slaps, and some other stuff I can't even describe. Did he get embarrassed when he turned around and saw me and my babe gaping at him? Or did he give us two finger guns and keep on going? What do you think? We were not disappointed.
- the way Roo will slowly slide closer to me on the couch and then reach over to hold my hand or pet my arm. It almost makes me want to up her TV time
- the hilarious things Ruby says. i should probably put together a post of quotes from her. i mean, wow. this kid comes up with the funniest stuff
- the way Tyler has stepped up to help me out lately. he's always been a huge help, but lately i've been pretty hopeless and he's a lifesaver.
- that time in church when a lady sneezed in the middle of sacrament and my Roo yelled "BLESS YOU!!!" during the complete silence that followed. is it bad that i enjoyed that? we were the cause of a lot of snickering in what should've been a moment of reverence, but what can you do? and hello manners! proud mama over here
- hearing Ruby try to say "hypothesis" and "popcorn"
- taking new photobooth photos as a family
- swim lessons. to be honest, the first class was kind of a joke (we were told to be there an hour too early, the teacher was told to be there half an hour too late, the girl who covered the class was awful, my kid froze and hated the whole thing) BUT the second class was sooo much better! the teacher was so good with the kids and Ruby did great. on our way out Roo turned to me and said "that was fun today!" hooray!
