this week

downs:
- getting sick. Ruby seems to have inherited my terrible immune system. she and i almost always get sick at the same time and when we do we seem to have the hardest time getting past it. Tyler, on the other hand, has a super immune system. i think he's only been sick maybe twice in the last 8+ years? and i've never seen him sick for more than 2 days. the funny thing about "that one time he was sick" is he caught strep throat, which seems to be the only thing i've never gotten. anyway at least one of us is healthy around here because Ruby and i are a mess right now. we caught some kind of cold and i also came down with an eye infection somehow. all i can ask at this point is that i don't go in to labor any time soon, because i would die. please oh please let us get healthy again before i have this baby!
- apparently the baby's head is resting on some nerves in my pelvis that makes it incredibly painful to walk, stand, pick up Ruby.... basically everything is painful and my legs sometimes won't function at all. oh the joys of pregnancy!
- that time i sent Roo to a costume party without a costume (i was in a sick stupor and completely forgot). not my finest moment

ups:
- making it to 38 weeks pregnant! this is the longest i've ever been pregnant and i'm feeling very accomplished. grow baby grow!
- taking Ruby trick or treating. we were both sick, but that night was so much fun and worth it. there are few things in this world that make me happier than seeing my Roo get excited about something like that. now we just need to work on candy rationing... i've hidden it all in the pantry for now, but i'm not fooling anyone ("i want some of my halloween candy, mama! let's go trick or treating again and get some more!")
- pulling out all of Ruby's old baby clothes and the bassinet to prep for baby #2. it was so sweet to see all of her old things and recall special memories. i can't wait to get another little squishy baby in to some of those old things again!
- taking Ruby to the library "spooktacular." the kids all dressed up and they had story time, crafts, a dance party, trick or treating and a bunch of other activities. the best part was watching Ruby's suspense-face while they read the kids the "spooky" stories (totally age appropriate, not scary at all). my Roo is such a scaredy cat!
- that time while we were trick or treating, one of the "spooky houses" had a mummy that popped up at me. it was like 2 feet tall and nobody (including the toddlers) jumped except for me (i wonder where Ruby got it). Tyler and i laughed so hard i peed my pants... literally
- my nurse husband. he has stepped in (as usual) and saved the day since i've been sick. we are some seriously lucky girls over here
- beautiful fall weather. we've been sleeping with the window open and it's the greatest.
