Roo's 3rd birthday party

I'm posting these photos 2 months late. i know, i know. let's blame technical difficulties because my computer decided enough was enough and wouldn't let me import any more photos. it took me 2 external hard drives and a few tears but hey! it's fixed! and now and i can slowly start catching up on posting photos from the last 2 months! hooray let's do it!

we decided to go with a balloon theme for Ruby's birthday party this year and it was loads of fun. if you know me at all, you know i have a little thing for balloons. thankfully, Ruby is still young enough for me to influence her party theme. ha!
we set up the trusty craft table again because it has always been a real winner. plus one of Ruby's only requests was that we have "GLUE! and GLITTER!" so it was kind of a must. all the kids got their own craft supplies and we added tiny balloons to each place setting. this photo doesn't really give those baby balloons justice. they were real cute, guys.
"hey Ruby, can you look at mommy?"
"i am."
"you're not though… can you just give me a happy, birthday girl smile?"
"ugh. i am."
"okaaay… hey Roo, remember how i asked you to share the play dough and not mix the colors together?"
"yep."
"can you stop mixing the colors?"
"i'm not."
i was feeling ambitious and decided to tie balloon animals at the party too. i was already learning to make the dog for the cake topper, right? so how hard could it be to learn to make another 5… or 10 things?? i learned how to make a dog, cat, monkey, bear, pony, bracelet, 2 kinds of flowers, a sword, a hat, a heart, and a guitar. maybe i got ahead of myself, but... hire me for all of your balloon party needs!
Ruby's sweet friend was holding up a cat in the above picture, but i obviously didn't have to tell you that… ha!
Ruby was completely spoiled this year by our sweet friends and family. this girl is really so lucky to have such loving people in her life.
this is the best shot i could get of the party favors. we filled clear balloons with some of Ruby's favorite things and punch balloons, and tied them all off with a few balloons on top.
other than the occasional tantrum and a few issues with sharing (sharing is SO hard!) i'd say it went pretty well. after everyone went home and we were left with a house full of balloons, Ruby said "mommy, that was the best party EVER!!"
so i guess i'll throw her another one next year.

once again my awesome sister came to the rescue and helped out a ton with this party. if you ever need an extra set of hands to shove loot inside of party favor balloons, she's kind of a pro. also, she ties slip knots really fast. these are the skills needed for a top notch party planning assistant, guys. anyway thanks, Dawnica!
