we went to the zoo yesterday! our friends, Connor and Allie were nice enough to invite us and i'm so glad they did. we've been to our fair share of zoos, and maybe it's because we took the little with us this time, but i liked this one the best. it was so much fun.
on the way there i quizzed Ruby on the animal sounds.
"RAAAAAR!"
Ruby ate animal crackers on the drive there to get in the zone.
don't worry, i took a gazillion pictures. and i'm not about to show any self-restraint. HERE WE GO!
the rain forest portion of the zoo was so neat.
Tyler plopped her down on this giant turtle for a photo op. she was not impressed. this was about 2 seconds before she burst in to tears. poor thing. she recovered pretty fast.
the hubs and Roo checking out the monkeys. they had the longest arms and would swing across the whole room in no time as if it was the simplest thing. Tyler said to me, "they're just so graceful!" i felt the exact same way.
Bub loved the penguins. she was a little confused though when a zoo worker walked in to their enclosure to take care of them.
the aquariums were some of Roo's favorite parts.
"come here, fish!"
i absolutely love this picture.
Tyler and Ruby watching the otter. he was so fast i could hardly get a picture of him. if you look closely you'll see him in the top right corner. he looks like a log...
then we moved on to the furry beasts.
this had to be my favorite part of the zoo. the grizzly bears were hanging out in this little pool right on the other side of our viewing window. they were RIGHT THERE! at one point a bear swam right over to us and pressed up agains the glass to look at Ruby. i was completely blown away by how huge he was (these pictures don't do him justice). i made a complete fool of myself squealing "look! oh my gosh! he's coming right up to us! OH MY GOSH, LOOK!" i don't even care. it was amazing.
am i the only one who hears that raffi song every time i think about the zoo? it's been playing nonstop in my head since yesterday. i think it's burned in to my brain. oh raffi...
