tuesday

mondays aren't really so bad. yes, it's true they mark the end of the weekend, but monday shouldn't be blamed for that.

the day that is truly the worst is actually tuesday. it's a fact. i hate tuesdays. tuesday shows up after monday saying, "oh, i know! mondays are awful! aren't you glad i showed up to get you closer to the weekend?" well i say baloney!

my tuesdays start too early, last too long, and they're just close enough to the beginning of the week to make me feel like the torture will never end. my tuesdays are cursed.

on tuesday i expect the baby to wake up at an ungodly hour, the hubs to work insanely late, and a helluva lot of frustration in between.

Ruby will be up at 5:00 on a tuesday. she'll kick me in the teeth, spit banana in my hair, and throw my mascara in the toilet. she will pull all the contents from the linen closet, stick maxi pads to the bottoms of her feet, and turn garbage cans upside down because it's tuesday. the sacred 2 hour nap will last 15 minutes on a tuesday. i'll lose my mail key, run out of gas, and break my favorite sunglasses because it's tuesday. someone will run in to my heels with a shopping cart on tuesday. buttons are lost, toes are stubbed, and zits form on tuesdays. the weather never cooperates. there is no such thing as a good hair tuesday. when everything goes wrong and i can't figure out why, i immediately think, "wait, ...is it tuesday?"

if the world is ever attacked by aliens, infected with a deadly plague, and every natural disaster known to man occurs at the same time, it will undoubtedly happen on a tuesday. we'll all be screaming, "WHAT'S HAPPENING?!" and then i'll remember the curse of the tuesday and it will all make sense.

a huge part of me wants to just hide and wait until wednesday rolls around every week, but i'm trying to be more brave. i venture out in the crummy weather, try new things with the rascal, and hope that something good will come of the cursed day. it doesn't always work, but i find it to be far better than hiding. also, my favorite child was born on a tuesday, so that gives the day a little credit.

and besides, some have it far worse than i do.
