this week

this week has been a little rough for us. we've been sick and i've been in a bit of a blogging rut. also, i had an argument with my camera and we're not on speaking terms quite yet (in other words: i'm not posting photos for the end of march photo challenge).

downs:
-the worst allergies in the history of allergies. i actually went to the doctor thinking it was something worse and she told me that this season has been rough on a lot of people. i would say i feel better to at least not be alone in this, but it just makes me feel bad for all you other chumps going through this with me.
-Ruby apparently has allergies too. she's had a runny nose and watery eyes and sneezes a lot when we go to the park. she hasn't been sleeping well at night and i've been chasing her around the house constantly trying to wipe her nose. i'm so sorry you got my genes, midge.
-the hubs seems to have picked up something legit. he doesn't get allergies, but he's had a sore throat and congestion for a few days and it's making life hard on him. i feel awful for him and really hope Ruby and i don't catch it...
-i feel like i've hit a wall with my trusty old camera. she's been good to me so far, but i've been struggling. i need to take classes. and also there's a smudge on the sensor? so that would cost precisely $toomuchformetoafford.95 to have shipped away for a few weeks and be fixed. not happening. editing smudges out of photos is annoying. all that is to say that i've been taking a break from the camera for a bit.
-going to the salon and walking out with hair that didn't look how i wanted. i know this is not that big of a deal, but it was a bummer.

ups:
-Ruby saying "hi" and "bye". all day long. every day. to everyone. it is stinking cute. i'll post a video as soon as she decides to perform for the camera.
-the ever-growing vocabulary that Ruby is picking up so fast. i need to start watching what i say around her... eesh!
-the list of 9 medications my doctor put me on. yes, feeling sick is the worst, but this stuff has been helping. in fact, today i was able to put in my contacts for the first time in over a week. my eyes have been swollen too much up to this point to even consider it. hooray for modern medicine! in fact let's give a round of applause for the following item Roo and i would surely die without: lotion kleenex.
-although i can't offer you any decent pictures, i'll share this quality cell phone photo of one of our trips to target this week:
i know it's awful and blurry, but this is by far one of the best pictures my junk camera phone has ever taken.
you can tell this was a good trip because Ruby is still in the cart after check out, all of her clothes seem to still be on, we remembered the diapers, picked up an elmo cup, and she snagged one of those "i'm the cutest baby in this place" stickers. going to the store with her is getting easier... knock on wood.
-eating at a restaurant that was loud enough to completely drown out Ruby's yells. don't worry, we don't neglect our child, she is simply boisterous and social. you have no idea how much better your meal tastes when you're not feeling guilty about ruining everyone else's.

so yes, this hasn't been the easiest or most enjoyable week, but it hasn't been all bad either. it was rough, but i'd still keep it.
