duck park

you know those times when you kick yourself for not noticing something awesome right under your nose? like when you see a "closed for business" sign on a store you didn't even know existed and would've gone to, or maybe a flyer for a concert that happened yesterday?

as i may have said a time or two, we are surrounded by parks. they are everywhere in this town. it's one of the top 5 reasons why i am in love with minnesota... maybe the top 3.

maybe (obviously) i'm not observant enough, but we totally overlooked the greatest little park ever. and it was right in our neighborhood!
we decided to take a longer walk than usual the other day and started weaving through a part of the neighborhood i had never been to when we stumbled upon a toddler's dream. yes, i am being dramatic. but guys, look at it! i'm used to the big-kid playgrounds where everything is so big, and high off the ground, and the only thing Ruby can do is swing. oh but this playground! it's made for her. everything is low, and safe, and am i rambling? well then, here, have a thousand pictures.
she got so excited about this duck. she started screaming "CACK! CACK!" (cack=quack=duck) from across the playground as soon as we got there. then she ran over and started petting the duck and speaking in a language only they could understand.

don't let this angle fool you, this is a Ruby-sized slide.

i am so glad we found this little gem before we moved, but i can't believe we could've been taking advantage of it all along! we've been back every day trying to make up for lost time.

i'm not the only one who gets this excited about a playground, am i?
