Ruby's fun day

the following is a detailed guide to giving a 2 1/2 year-old girl the best day of her life:
go ahead and make her pink and purple pancakes when she asks for them
take her to a farmers market and buy her fresh cherries
let a stranger paint a butterfly on her arm, and when they ask "is it okay if i add sparkles?" say "you betcha!"
buy her a cupcake. make it pink! with sprinkles!
go to a petting zoo full of baby animals (die from a cuteness overload)
let her hold this bunny and ride on that miniature pony (it may not look it, but she was thrilled to sit on that tiny pony. his name was silver. she may never stop talking about him)
give her a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch and take her to a candy store with a buddy (free lollipop day at Sees!).
give her a pedicure, make sure daddy comes home early, read her a thousand and one books, play hide and seek
and for dinner, let her use chopsticks!
also, add extra bubbles at bath time, tell more bedtime stories, and cuddles on mommy's lap before bed.

Saturday was a good day. we didn't stop moving until bedtime and we had so much fun. as soon as we woke up i thought "you know, i've been kind of a grumpy prego mommy lately. Ruby deserves a fun day" and as it turns out, i had a great time too! i feel so lucky to be able to spend time with this girl of mine. she is so sweet and funny and i can't get enough of her lately. occasionally we have days that run together and we both get a little grumpy. we need days like this once in a while (pure fun. no stress. going with the flow and doing what feels right in the moment). it clears the cobwebs and makes me appreciate this special time i get to spend with my 2 year-old Roo.
